The job At Jumbo Shipping you will do more than just sailing: loading and sea fastening cargoes, discharging cargoes in hard to reach ports, the emphasis on working safely at all times, operating the cranes or determining the route of the ship. At Jumbo, you really ‘work’ with the vessel and its cargo.
As 2nd engineer you are responsible for the maintenance of technical installations that are assigned by the Chief Engineer on board. All procedures are followed in compliance of the legal regulations JMS. You are scheduling the daily activities and you are in the charge of the engineering staff. You keep the daily report on board and you are responsible for the safe execution of assigned tasks and duties. Also you are preventing and taking action against accidents, incidents and damages on board.
As 2nd engineer there are a few competence that are very important to successfully fulfill the job.
Reliability (communicate openly, honestly and in time is able to keep promises and given affirmation)
Customer orientation (negotiates the complains and problems of the client properly)
Cooperate (Helps colleagues to achieve their goals and provides assistance where needed)
Requirements
Basic knowledge of Flag State and International Maritime Rules and Regulations
Technical knowledge and practical skill of Marine Engineering
Basic knowledge of stock and spare part administration
Leadership and communicative qualities, able to work in a team
Thorough knowledge of the Dutch and English language through the spoken and written word
In possession of a valid “Certificate of Compentency” as per Zeevaartbemanningswet / STCW 1995 resolution for the assigned vessel
Valid Certificate of Fitness for Seafaring (“Schepelingenbesluit art. 31)
Advanced firefighting certificate
