The job
At Jumbo Shipping you will do more than just sailing: loading and sea fastening cargoes, discharging cargoes in hard to reach ports, the emphasis on working safely at all times, operating the cranes or determining the route of the ship. At Jumbo, you really ‘work’  with the vessel and its cargo.

As 3rd engineer you support the continuous functioning of technical installations in compliance with legal regulations and procedures JMS. You are responsible for the safe assigned watch operation of the vessel’s engine room and technical installations and the safe  execution of assigned tasks and duties on board. Also you are preventing and taking action against accidents, incidents and damages on board. You will be able to develop skills and experience on board.

As 3rd engineer there are a few competence that are very important to successfully fulfill the job.

• Reliability (communicate openly, honestly and in time is able to keep promises and given affirmation)
• Safety and quality awareness (Is able to prevent errors and is aware of the importance to provide the quality of work)
• Cooperate (Helps colleagues to achieve their goals and provides assistance where needed)

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of Flag Stage and International Maritime Rules and Regulations
• Technical Knowledge and practical skill of Marine Engineering
• Basic knowledge of stock and spare part administration
• Communicative qualities, and be able to work in a team
• Thorough knowledge of the Dutch and English language through the spoken en written word
• In possession of a valid “Certificate of Competency” as per Zeevaartbemanningswet / STCW 1995 resolution for the assigned vessel
• Valid Certificate of Fitness for Seafaring (“Schepelingenbesluit art. 31)
• Advanced firefighting certificate
