The job
At Jumbo Shipping you will do more than just sailing: loading and sea fastening cargoes, discharging cargoes in hard to reach ports, the emphasis on working safely at all times, operating the cranes or determining the route of the ship. At Jumbo, you really ‘work’  with the vessel and its cargo.

As 3rd officer you’ll be responsible for the safe and proper execution of the assigned tasks on board. You’re supporting the chief officer and the 2nd officer with preparing and accomplish cargo operations. You’ll be responsible for the save navigation of the ship and  for a safe and economical travel preparation.

As 3rd officer there are a few competence that are very important to successfully fulfill the job.

• Reliability (being able to keep promises and given affirmation, communicate openly, honestly and in time)
• Customer orientation (negotiates the complains and problems of the client properly)
• Cooperate (help colleagues to achieve their goals and provides assistance where needed)

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of Flag State and International Maritime Rules and Regulations
• Basis knowledge of safe ship operations
• Basic knowledge of cargo handling
• Leadership skills and communicative qualities, able to work in a team
• Knowledge of the Dutch and English language through the spoken and written word
• In possession of a valid “Certificate of Competency” as per Zeevaartbemanningswet / STCWC 1995 resolution for the assigned vessel
• Valid Certificate of Fitness of Seafaring (“Schepelingenbesluit art.31)
• Advanced firefighting certificate
